Coaching Award delivered through a partnership between the CONFCAL and FCQT
BACKGROUND
The Continental Football Coaching Academy Limited (CONFCAL), has agreed to partner Football Coaching Qualifications Training (http://footballcqt.co.uk), a reputable UK football coaching company, to deliver football coach education courses to coaches in Africa, initially in Nigeria where we are seeking partners to work with.
The intention would be to deliver, in the first instance, a CONFCAL Diploma, with the potential to add on further higher-level awards. Furthermore, there would be the possibility of our coaches recommending possible suitably talented Nigerian coaches the opportunity to undertake coaching qualifications in Europe. European coaching qualifications are regarded as the best in the world and would carry considerable prestige in Africa.
The CONFCAL National Diploma is specifically designed to meet the needs of the coaches in African who would be coaching younger age children. The award could also be offered to club coaches.
The course would cover both practical pitch coaching and relevant theory, and would be specific to the age of the young players within the schools and clubs.
Practical component
- Organising coaching sessions – the number of players, equipment, size of training area.
- The delivering of techniques – control, passing, shooting etc.
- The use of small-sided games eg 4v4, 5v5, 7v7 etc.
Theoretical component
- The pedagogy around teaching and how young people learn.
- The characteristics of young people in relation to age specific coaching.
- Nutrition
- Age appropriate physical training.
- Child protection.
CERTIFICATION
CONFCAL and FCQT would provide suitably qualified trained tutors to deliver the courses. The standard of course delivery, and the assessed element of the award, would be monitored by FCQT Head of Coach Education to ensure that the high standards expected by the Organisation are maintained. The certificate itself will have the CONFCAL and FCQT badge on it to reflect the status of the award, and a database of coaches who complete the course will be maintained.
CONCLUSION
CONFCAL and partners FCQT believe there is considerable scope for such a project to be delivered in Africa. What is being offered is a quality assured coaching course for football coaches that will be ideally suitable for African coaches.
